W.I.P. Wednesday! Margot's Tolsta Tee Project

Our friend, Margot (@margotchien), has done it again. We just love her version of Rebecca Clow's Tolsta Tee! What a gorgeous beachy and bright result knit in The Lamb & Kid Trio held with Dimond Laine Birdie in the colors Sweetie and Tattersall. Trio and Birdie held together make a wonderful fabric at the pattern gauge of 17 sts over 4".

Margot used equal amounts of the two colors, dividing her required yardage in half for each color in both yarns. She also transitioned from one color to the next with a color-shifting stripe sequence -- most of the time in her version, she held like color Birdie with Trio. But, over 16 rounds around the point she wanted to color shift, she worked 8 final rounds of Trio in color A and 8 rounds in the new color B. At the same time, she changed up the color on Birdie in 1-, 2-, and 3- round stripes sometimes marling and sometimes working like with like. Such a fun idea! We really can't wait to see how you play with this technique!

You'll want to grab a copy of Rebecca's pattern from Ravelry and then calculate the yardage you need for your desired size. Remember that you'll need equivalent yardage in Trio and Birdie since you're holding the yarns together throughout. Choose your favorite color and go all in, or marl Trio in one shade with Birdie in the other, or colorblock, or stripe -- so many possibilities!

Then visit our dyed-to-order page for this project to order Trio and Birdie for your own beach-y bright tee. Or check out our in-stock Trio and Birdie and create your own unique masterpiece.
