Knitting is a Sport, Right?

This weekend is a big one for the world of sports. From the Opening Ceremony of the Winter Olympics 2026 in Milano Cortina, Italy to Super Bowl Sunday in California, chances are you're going to be singing something from Sporty Spice or Bad Bunny this weekend (I mean, at least, one of us will be...).

Good thing knitting is a sport, right?

Just ask Tom Daley. Or Breezy Johnson. Or this individual knitting on the ski slopes. Or this superstar knitting while snorkeling. Or ask anyone that has ever hand-wound a skein of yarn. 100% that is a sport.

Speaking of Tom Daley, did anyone watch Game of Wool this fall?! Channel 4 already had our hearts with the Great British Bake Off and The Dog House (our absolute favorite feel good show!), but this just made it even better.

Sorry, back to sports.

Did you see that one of our very own knitters and owner of Tribe Yarns, Milli Abrams, recently completed a solo-row ACROSS THE ATLANTIC?! Milli we are thrilled for you and this accomplishment! Milli also knitted the most fabulous Winter Chunky Jacket this fall that would be perfect in our Lamb & Kid Teddy Boucle! It's one of the many projects we have in our queue.

Now for the Opening Ceremonies of the Olympics. The must-see fashion show before the games begin. While we wish we were in Italy, we'll be cheering on Team USA from home! Need a stylish piece of your own to cheer on the athletes? Might we recommend Petite Knit's Sophie Scarf, Leslie Friend's Toast Mitts or our Cloud Hat in Sleepover, Antique or Poppy (or of course, all three colors together)? Commodore, Postcard, Vintage and So Very Cherry would also be great colors to cheer on Team USA! Our Tod or Tod Worsted yarns would be super soft for these winter accessories. Another personal favorite would be to hold Trio DK and Birdie together. You're welcome in advance.

Last but certainly not least, we cannot forget about our dear Seahawks! The Lamb & Kid team has been busy this week knitting up pieces to cheer on our hometown team this weekend at the Super Bowl! Lindsay has been knitting up a new hat in Frog Rock and Commodore on Elmer Worsted and Pam has been knitting a cowl in Galactic, Cookie Monster, Frog Rock and Commodore on Fletcher Aran! Talk about ALL the Seahawks colors. We did a DTO last week for these Seahawks colors, but please call us (206.201.3563), email us (heykid@thelambandkid.com), or visit us in the store if you still want to get your own Seahawks inspired yarn!

Whatever sport you're watching and whatever team you're cheering on this weekend, we're cheering YOU on with your knitting! Have a fantastic and sporty weekend, friends.
