Our Simple Stockinette Cowl is a quick knit and a great pattern for beginners. It's functional too and just the right size for snuggly warmth. It's written for any worsted- to Aran-weight yarn, or a combination of yarns that get you to the gauge. We also use a version of this pattern to teach our beginning knitting classes. It's a versatile classic!

We show a version on the pattern itself knit out of two 50-gram skeins of The Lamb & Kid Tod Worsted. When we cast on in The Lamb & Kid Memento (shown here), we went up a needle size for drapability and used a skein each of two hand-dyed colors: Chesterfield and Biscotti. Change color as desired--we added in our new color at about 8". With about 4 rounds per inch after blocking, this cowl flew off the needles!
If you want to make one of your own, our Memento base will be offered in this weekend's dyed-to-order. Or use any worsted- to Aran-weight yarn...we want to try one in Elmer Fingering held together with Birdie next!
You'll need a copy of our pattern, available here!
