In May on Bainbridge Island, we’re just starting to see the wildflowers. Whip up a few of these vase cozies now though, and you’ll be ready for those spontaneous bouquets that come home with you all summer long. You’ll just need a few jars from “that” cabinet in your kitchen.
Finished Measurements:
Approx. 9.5” circumference, to fit a 10-11” circumference wide mouth pint jar.
(Note that the height of this piece is easily adjustable if your jar is bigger than a pint.)
Materials:
1 skein(s) The Lamb & Kid Kiddo in either put-up (220 yds/50g or 437 yds/100g).
Or use a few colors of Kiddo and plan several vases and some scrappy socks.
Each vase cover for a standard pint jar will use approx. 60 yards in total.
Sample Shown:
Shown in colors Downy, Terrapin, Pop Rocks, and Sweetie.
Gauge:
17 stitches = 4” in single crochet, blocked.
Exact gauge is not critical for this project, but you do want to achieve a fabric that holds its shape when pulled around your jar.
Suggested Hook:
US E (3.5mm) crochet hook.
Tools:
Darning needle, locking marker, wide mouth pint jar (or other).
