This cowl, named for our local inlet, is the ultimate in relaxing knitting: an easy Old Shale lace variation, a fluffy, plump, and soft yarn in two colors, and big needles. This cowl practically knits itself, leaving you with some delicious squish to double up around your neck.

Finished Measurements:
Approx. 62” circumference x 13” tall (wide)

Materials:
Dimond Laine Big Birdie (79% alpaca, 21% silk; 174 yards per 100g); 2 skeins. We used 1 skein in each of 2 colors.

Or Aran weight yarn in the following amounts:
340 yds / 310m total; 170 yds / 155m of each of 2 colors.

Gauge:
12 sts / 16 rows = 4” in stockinette st using Gauge Needle, blocked.

Suggested Needles:
Needles listed are suggested. Always take time to swatch.
Gauge Needle: US 10 (6.0mm) needles.

Tools:
Crochet hook; Darning needle; Spare needle in similar size to Gauge Needle; 1-2 yards of worsted-weight waste yarn.
