A jaunty accessory designed to make the most of our Aran-weight alpaca and silk blend, and one that weighs practically nothing atop your head. Tilt this shallow beret at a rakish angle for adventuring and maximum fun. Make one to match your Sherbet Bandana!

Finished Measurements:
To fit an average adult head, 20-21” in circumference. Beret measures 18” circumference at ribbed edge.

Materials:
Dimond Laine Big Birdie (79% alpaca, 21% silk; 174 yards per 100 grams): 1 skein.

Or 105 yards / 96m of an Aran-weight yarn.

Sample Shown:
Dimond Laine Big Birdie in color Beret.

Gauge:
17 sts and 22 rounds = 4” in Stockinette stitch in the round, blocked.

Needles:
Needles listed are suggested. Always take time to swatch.
Gauge Needle: US 7 (4.5mm) 16” circular and double-point needles.
Ribbing Needle: US 6 (4mm) 16” circular needle, or one needle size smaller than Gauge Needle.

Tools:
BOR marker, darning needle. Optional: Seven markers in a different color from BOR marker.

Errata, Lolly Beret, version 1:
We've clarified the language in the note about adding depth to your beret, under the heading EVEN ROUNDS: "Note: Here is where you can change the overall depth of your beret--seven rounds will yield a piece of about 8" in total depth....Our samples were knit per pattern, with seven even rounds here and 8" of depth from cast-on through the decreases."
