The weekend is Local Yarn Shop Day and we can’t wait to celebrate with you, and our fellow LYSs.
We have collaborated with both shops to put together kits for the Churchmouse Yarns Pinking Shears Scarf in yarn from our shop combined with yarn from La Mercerie. The Pinking Shears pattern offers three sizes, but really the sky is the limit.
We took a fun little field trip (okay, it’s really only a block away, but who’s counting) and went to La Mercerie to pick out some La Bien Aimee Helix and welcomed Jess to our shop to pick out some Birdie. We encourage you all to do the same!
We are dyeing Birdie in colors to match some of La Bien Aimee’s Felix, Helix, and Alix. Yarn will be available in the shop to purchase, but if you can’t make it in, don’t worry. We will have the same colors in our weekend DTO.

We knit the large size in Birdie in Dial Tone with Helix in Yellow Brick Road and it’s oh so cozy and cute! La Mercerie knit the medium size in Birdie in Petal with Alix in Heliocore. The small takes one skein of Birdie, the medium takes two skeins, and the large takes three skeins. All sizes need only one skein of La Bien Aimee in any of the three options. If you don’t like the idea of holding two strands together, we are smitten with the notion of using Elmer held single! You will need two skeins of Elmer for the medium or large size, and only one skein for the small.

74% Baby Suri Alpaca, 26% Silk
Birdie is known for its drape, this gorgeously soft baby suri alpaca yarn is blended with silk for strength. Birdie is the perfect alternative for those desiring a fluffy halo, but are allergic or sensitive to mohair. When held with another yarn, Birdie gives more opaque coverage than Mho Mho. Try it held single for a diaphanous effect, or doubled with itself, or another yarn, for more substance. To note: colors take slightly lighter to Birdie and its sisters, than to other bases.
