We are all atwitter over here about the Porcelain Sweater by Lene Holme Samsoe of LE KNIT. There are three versions of this stunning pattern; an all over colorwork drop shoulder, a colorwork only in the round yoke, and a junior version of the drop shoulder so you can match your mini me, if thatโs your cup of tea! Speaking of tea, the original version brings to mind the classic blue and white Spode china pattern in the best possible way. With delicate and intricate bands of one-color colorwork spaced by stretches of solid stockinette, these patterns are sure to be your next potato-chip knit; just one more row!
Knit up in a fingering held with a laceweight yarn for a DK gauge, we have combined Kiddo and Birdie, and alternatively Trio and Birdie, for some beautiful spring-inspired swatches. This combination of yarns is the perfect weight for this transitional time of year when we are straddling two seasons, light and yet warm for when the sun shines tempting you out of doors, but the breezes still blow chilly. And talk about soft! We canโt stop petting the samples!
Now, letโs talk colors! Our friend Margot has made a stunning version in Vintage Trio held with Vintage Birdie and colorwork in Bobby Blue Trio held with Bobby Blue Birdie to mimic the original classic colors. We think Kiddo in the color Downy with Vintage Birdie would be a beautiful alternative. We have swatched two other versions featuring some of our favorite spring-inspired colors; Downy Kiddo held with Birdie Vintage and colorwork in Kiddo Lipstick held with Birdie Beret, and Downy Kiddo held with Birdie Nostalgia and colorwork in Downy Coco held with Birdie Port.
COLORS:
Beret: A clear medium-toned raspberry pink channeling Prince's iconic song!
Bobby Blue: A true and super saturated vivid cobalt blue.
Nostalgia: A light to mid-tone dusty pink with mauve and gray notes. Delicate but holds its own when paired with dark & broody colors.
Port: A dark wine and burgundy swirl.
Vintage: A creamy light gray that brings brights together. Reminiscent of Old World charm and the color of your grandmother's heirloom wedding gown.
